{"id":820860,"date":"2026-11-01T15:46:07","date_gmt":"2026-11-01T15:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/820860\/"},"modified":"2026-11-01T15:46:07","modified_gmt":"2026-11-01T15:46:07","slug":"keith-thurman-compares-sebastian-fundoras-power-to-manny-pacquiaos-after-losing-to-both","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/820860\/","title":{"rendered":"Keith Thurman compares Sebastian Fundora&#8217;s power to Manny Pacquiao&#8217;s after losing to both"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/keith-thurman-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Keith Thurman<\/a> recently fell short in his bid to dethrone <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/sebastian-fundora\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sebastian Fundora<\/a> of his WBC super-welterweight title.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018One Time\u2019 has since compared Fundora\u2019s punching power to that of eight-division world champion and former opponent <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/manny-pacquiao\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manny Pacquiao<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/in-pictures-manny-pacquiao-outpoints-keith-thurman\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Thurman lost a split-decision and his undefeated record to Manny Pacquiao<\/a> back in 2019 after getting knocked down in the opening round and fought one just one more occasion in the six years that followed; returning to action in March 2025 with a knockout win against Brock Jarvis in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Following that triumph, the former unified welterweight world champion was granted a shot at Fundora\u2019s WBC super-welterweight throne, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/boxing\/story\/_\/id\/48336476\/sebastian-fundora-retains-title-hands-thurman-first-tko-loss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u2018The Towering Inferno\u2019 handed Thurman a second career defeat and did so inside the distance<\/a>, with referee Thomas Taylor waving the fight off in round six.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/shorts\/6stS7az3ak8?si=ZRP7v0chJ0NMZNur\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fight Hub TV<\/a>, Thurman insinuated that \u2018Pac-Man\u2019 punched harder than the reigning WBC 154lb titleholder, as he disagreed with Taylor\u2019s decision to stop their contest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he [Fundora] hit hard then he would have dropped me. Manny Pacquiao dropped me, he didn\u2019t stop me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFundora stopped me, but he didn\u2019t drop me! That is my argument with that one. I understand [why they stopped it], but I say that they pulled the plug quickly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet fighters finish fights, what is wrong with that? What happened to Knockout of the Year? What happened to all of these things that we used to witness back in the day?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that we want to protect our athletes and different things, but a fight is going to be over when the fight is over, or it should be closer to over.
