{"id":821870,"date":"2026-11-02T16:24:09","date_gmt":"2026-11-02T16:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/821870\/"},"modified":"2026-11-02T16:24:09","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T16:24:09","slug":"isles-of-scilly-group-collects-two-tonnes-of-marine-litter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/821870\/","title":{"rendered":"Isles of Scilly group collects two tonnes of marine litter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">More than two tonnes of litter has been picked up from the Isles of Scilly coastline in the past 18 months, according to a community group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Scilly Coastal Clean-up, which has been sorting marine debris since February 2025, said the haul included 8,000 plastic bottles and 16,000 pieces of rope and netting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Director Nikki Banfield said: &#8220;Scilly is at the mercy of the wind and the tides.
