<\/p>\nBournemouth made it three successive Premier League wins to nil with a hard-earned victory over Leeds United on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Here are our Scout Notes from the Vitality Stadium.<\/p>\n
TRAFFORD ERROR PIVOTAL AS DEFENCES ON TOP<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Two of the division\u2019s better defences met on the south coast, and it was a predictably tight game.<\/p>\n
It was fourth versus seventh in terms of expected goals conceded (xGC), and gilt-edged opportunities were at a premium.<\/p>\n
Were it not for James Trafford\u2018s (\u00a35.0m) costly error \u2013 the Leeds \u2018keeper passing straight to Justin Kluivert (\u00a35.9m), who squared for Evanilson (\u00a36.4m) to score \u2013 would this game have finished 0-0? Very possibly.<\/p>\n
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (\u00a36.1m) had Leeds\u2019 only Opta-defined \u2018big chance\u2019 of the match, seeing his point-blank-range shot saved before he handled the ball into the net. James Justin (\u00a34.5m) had a decent headed opportunity in the second half, but the visitors registered just three shots in the box all game:<\/p>\n

At the other end, the Cherries were not in the game at all until Trafford\u2019s rick. They, too, had limited chances, a Marcus Tavernier (\u00a36.6m) free-kick from range and an off-target Rayan (\u00a36.3m) shot about the best of them until Amine Adli\u2018s (\u00a34.8m) stoppage-time sealer.<\/p>\n

In summary, then: two sets of defences you can be pretty confident about going forward, and two attacks who will have easier days than this. Indeed, the Cherries face a clean-sheet-less Ipswich Town next.<\/p>\n
\u201cFootball can be brutal. Sometimes, this was one of our best away games in recent years. I would say the first 30 minutes, it was just us against the in-form side [of the Premier League]. We created so many chances, scored probably the team goal of the season [which was disallowed for handball]. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd out of nothing, they were all of a sudden in the lead because, let\u2019s be honest, we scored more or less an own-goal. Of course, then, such a well-defending, in-form side, after 30 minutes, to go in the lead like this [for the] first time, they got the feeling, \u2018Okay, they can sit with us\u2019. We tried everything to turn the game.\u201d \u2013 Daniel Farke<\/p>\n
A concern for Leeds, however, is that they\u2019ve now scored zero or one goal in eight of their nine league matches this season.<\/p>\n
ROSE ON KROUPI\u2019S FITNESS<\/p>\n
Adli\u2019s goal was teed up by Eli Kroupi Junior (\u00a37.3m), making his third successive sub appearance in league and cup after recovering from a medium-term injury.<\/p>\n
Some Fantasy managers are already looking at the Frenchman, factoring in Bournemouth\u2019s fixtures, Kroupi\u2019s 13-goal season in 2025\/26 and the fact that he\u2019s (currently) not in the Cherries\u2019 European squad, so likelier to get minutes\/starts domestically.<\/p>\n
However, it\u2019s worth noting that Marco Rose could re-add him to the Europa League roster at any point<\/a>.<\/p>\n And Gameweek 10 is probably a week too early anyway. Rose already hinted<\/a> that he wouldn\u2019t start before the international break, and he seemed to reassert those comments after full-time.<\/p>\n \u201cHe could be a key factor for us this season because if you see, even he is not 100 per cent fit, how he understands the game, how he touches the ball, how he solves tight situations, how he assists the goal.<\/p>\n \u201cEspecially in the Premier League, where you get in certain phases of the game a little bit more space if it goes up and down, he\u2019s just a guy who can make the difference and he worked hard today.<\/p>\n \u201cHe knows that he needs every metre to fill up his tank with energy and with power.<\/p>\n \u201cToday he played 25 [minutes] and now we\u2019re going to increase his match time more and more.\u201d \u2013 Marco Rose on Eli Kroupi Junior via the Bournemouth Echo<\/a><\/p>\n Kroupi came on for Kluivert here, and it\u2019s the Dutchman who looks most at risk when his teammate is fully fit.<\/p>\n ANOTHER GOAL FOR EVANILSON<\/p>\n Evanilson was indebted to Trafford for the error, and Kluivert for the tee-up, as that was his only shot of the game.<\/p>\n Still, it continued an excellent run of four goals in as many Gameweeks for the Brazilian.<\/p>\n A profligate finisher in his first two campaigns on the south coast, it remains to be seen if he can keep up the lethal conversion rate.<\/p>\n He at least has the immediate fixtures to offer further encouragement, and Rose is keen on the striker to be just that: a striker.<\/p>\n \u201cHe played at ten, he played at nine and a half, but he\u2019s a nine. And he has to understand \u2013 and everyone has to understand, even his teammates \u2013 that it\u2019s important for him to score goals. It\u2019s good that Justin gave him an assist.\u201d \u2013 Marco Rose on Evanlison<\/p>\n OKAFOR INJURY UPDATE<\/p>\n No surprise that Anton Stach (\u00a36.0m) was a substitute for this one, based on Daniel Farke pre-match comments.<\/p>\n But we didn\u2019t expect Noah Okafor\u2018s (\u00a35.8m) no-show, after Farke pretty much gave him a clean bill of health on Friday.<\/a><\/p>\n A recurrence of his adductor pain was to blame:<\/p>\n Leeds indicating Okafor felt pain in his adductor during yesterday\u2019s final session. One they will monitor over the days ahead. #lufc<\/p>\n \u2014 Beren Cross (@BerenCross) October 31, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n After struggling following his summer move, Harry Wilson (\u00a36.2m) had probably his best game in a Leeds shirt on Saturday. It\u2019ll be interesting to see if Stach gets back in the side next weekend, even if fit.<\/p>\n \u201cThey both played a really good first half. It reminded me of Dan James\u2019 really good pre-season form, I liked it.<\/p>\n \u201cHarry, you could see he was coming into his rhythm a bit more. Of course with offensive players, they are just happy if they score a goal or assist.<\/p>\n \u201cThey would have deserved more out of their performance today. It\u2019s not to be at the moment. But again, be stubborn and stay on it.\u201d \u2013 Daniel Farke on Harry Wilson and Daniel James, via Leeds Live<\/a><\/p>\n DEFCON ROUND-UP<\/p>\n It was close but no cigar for Bournemouth\u2019s two centre-backs, although Antonio Silva (\u00a35.0m) did bank two bonus points.<\/p>\n Tarik Muharemovic (\u00a35.1m) joined Silva on 12 DefCon points for the season.
