Interpol<\/a> have announced details of an intimate London show after their co-headline gig with Bloc Party<\/a> in the capital was cancelled.<\/p>\n

In support of their acclaimed eighth album \u2018This Mirror Weighs A Ton<\/a>\u2018, the NYC indie icons will be hitting the road with fellow \u201900s guitar veterans Bloc Party for a run of UK and European co-headline dates,<\/a> kicking off in Copenhagen next week before rolling into the UK later in November and ending in the capital next month.<\/p>\n

The tour was due to conclude with two nights at the 7,000 capacity Grand Hall at London\u2019s Olympia on December 4 and 5, before a whole run of shows \u2013 also including Jamie T and Royal Blood \u2013 had to be moved or cancelled due to \u201cunforeseen planning issues<\/a>\u201d at the venue.<\/p>\n

Now, Interpol have announced a more intimate replacement show, playing just the one date at the 3,800-capacity British Airways Arc at Olympia on Friday December 4. They will be playing without Bloc Party.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were disappointed circumstances beyond our control meant we couldn\u2019t play the two shows at Olympia Grand Hall as planned,\u201d Interpol told fans in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019ve been working to deliver a show for Interpol fans in London in the same timeframe, and this is it. This intimate show is a way for us to celebrate \u2018This Mirror Weighs A Ton\u2019 with fans before touring further in 2027.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a four-and-a-half star review<\/a> of \u2018This Mirror Weighs A Tonne\u2019, NME hailed it as \u201cthe whole journey of Interpol\u2019s sonic past, present and future laid out, marking their most unified yet experimental effort in years and arguably their most consistent and satisfying since \u2018Antics\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to NME about the new album,<\/a> frontman Paul Banks said the high energy rock-leaning vibe came as a reaction to predecessor \u2018The Other Side Of Make-Believe<\/a>\u2018 being written in isolation during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis time I said, \u2018I need us to be loud in a room together\u2019,\u201d said Banks. \u201cIt was louder from the beginning. I do think there are more rockers on this one than the last one, although I wouldn\u2019t necessarily say it\u2019s a \u2018heavy\u2019 record or overly rocking. It was just written in that live space where I could shout over the drums again.\u201d<\/p>\n
