A man was seen speeding off in a vehicle towards Queens Drive<\/p>\n

A man was seen with a shotgun after opening fire in a street. Merseyside Police received a call with reports that at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, August 20 two loud bangs had been heard on The Beechwalk in Stoneycroft and a dark coloured vehicle had sped off in the direction of Queens Drive<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was further reported a man had been seen firing a shotgun before getting into the vehicle, and damage had been caused to the front door of a house on the street. Merseyside Police<\/a> said people were inside the house at the time, however there have been no reports of anyone injured during the incident.<\/p>\n

House-to-house enquiries, CCTV and forensic work continues at the scene and a cordon currently remains in place. Detective Inspector John Mullen said: \u201cOur enquiries into this incident are in their early stages but we believe it was targeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We are very keen to hear from anyone who saw, heard or may have captured it as a matter of urgency. If you live locally or were passing by at around 8.30pm last night, please check any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage and speak to us, either directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers will remain in the area in the coming days to gather information and speak to potential witnesses. We have made significant progress in recent years in reducing the number of firearms incidents in Merseyside, and that progress has been thanks in large part to people from the communities affected coming forward with information to help us remove guns and those prepared to use them from our streets.<\/p>\n

\u201cFiring a weapon in a residential street such as this is incredibly reckless and could so easily have resulted in serious injuries or worse.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you tell us what you know, we will do all we can to remove the criminals responsible and their weapons from the streets.\u201d<\/p>\n
