{"id":82948,"date":"2025-08-21T16:13:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T16:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/82948\/"},"modified":"2025-08-21T16:13:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T16:13:11","slug":"marion-bartoli-and-martina-navratilova-both-claim-what-needs-to-happen-for-emma-raducanu-to-go-deep-at-the-us-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/82948\/","title":{"rendered":"Marion Bartoli and Martina Navratilova both claim what needs to happen for Emma Raducanu to go deep at the US Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Emma Raducanu is set for another run at the US Open, the tournament where she created history.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, the 22-year-old, who was just 18 at the time, entered what was just her second Grand Slam, and she did the unthinkable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/emma-raducanu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emma Raducanu<\/a> successfully qualified for the main draw at Flushing Meadows, before proceeding to shock the world and win the title without dropping a set.<\/p>\n<p>Four years later, the former top 10 player is back in New York and is ready to try and create some more magic at the final Grand Slam of the year.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"678\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2230327867-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"Emma Raducanu lunges to hit a forehand during the US Open 2025 - Mixed Doubles event\" \/>Photo by Selcuk Acar\/Anadolu via Getty ImagesMarion Bartoli and Martina Navratilova think Emma Raducanu needs a good draw at the US Open<\/p>\n<p>Following some encouraging results over the summer, Raducanu has climbed back into the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/wta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WTA\u2019s<\/a> top 40.<\/p>\n<p>She is currently ranked number 35, meaning she just missed out on being seeded at the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a> for the first time since 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, there is a chance she could face some of the big names very early in the tournament. For example, <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/emma-raducanu-missed-a-golden-opportunity-before-wimbledon-which-could-have-prevented-her-loss-to-aryna-sabalenka\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raducanu faced Aryna Sabalenka at Wimbledon<\/a> in the third round.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the US Open commencing on Sunday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skysports.com\/tennis\/news\/35554\/13408090\/us-open-2025-predictions-with-emma-raducanu-jack-draper-jannik-sinner-carlos-alcaraz-and-aryna-sabalenka-in-the-mix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Sky Sports<\/a> pundits <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/martina-navratilova\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Martina Navratilova<\/a> and Marion Bartoli think Raducanu\u2019s draw will depend on how far she goes in the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmma has a chance of going deep if she gets a good draw,\u201d Navratilova said, before Bartoli added: \u201cIt depends on the draw but she has a decent chance to get through to the second week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"569\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2228948201-1024x569.jpg\" alt=\"Cincinnati Open 2025 - Day 5\" \/>Photo by Robert Prange\/Getty ImagesAnnabel Croft explains what Emma Raducanu must do to have a strong US Open<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu has shown she has what it takes to compete with the very best on the WTA Tour.<\/p>\n<p>She has played Sabalenka twice since July, and has pushed her to the limit on both occasions. Especially at the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/aryna-sabalenka-achieves-historic-30-year-landmark-against-british-opponents-after-defeating-emma-raducanu-in-cincinnati\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cincinnati Open, where Raducanu lost to Sabalenka<\/a> in a final set tiebreak.<\/p>\n<p>Though she just fell short of victory, Raducanu proved she was able to maintain a high level of tennis for a sustained period of time, which <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/annabel-croft\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Annabel Croft<\/a> urged her to do at the US Open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s always got a good chance because she\u2019s such a good player. It\u2019s about her doing well and maintaining a high level for a sustained level of time,\u201d Croft said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will depend on the draw but there\u2019s no question she\u2019ll be in the mix.
