{"id":83591,"date":"2025-08-21T22:10:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T22:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/83591\/"},"modified":"2025-08-21T22:10:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T22:10:12","slug":"wing-walker-raises-thousands-for-mountbatten-hospice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/83591\/","title":{"rendered":"Wing walker raises thousands for Mountbatten Hospice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Tracey Gould, from West End, overcame her fear of flying by wing walking on the Isle of Wight last week, which has seen her <a href=\"https:\/\/mountbattenhampshire.enthuse.com\/pf\/tracey-gould?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwL9rldleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHu63pEIY8LhTA4n_Rw_N52c10i10WfhXlWDFmaHTLTzFmjardvJzGEcrovm5_aem_nfAaNRRGG-tkdv2cbYGhIA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">raise more than \u00a32,500<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyecho.co.uk\/news\/25332618.mountbatten-receive-almost-1m-government-funds\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mountbatten Hospice<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Tracey first experienced the care of\u00a0Mountbatten Hospice, based in West End, when her father David, received support during the final days of his life in 2012, after he\u2019d been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Having been inspired by the \u201cincredible work\u201d staff provide at the care facility, Tracey volunteered at the hospice on weekends before joining full-time three years ago as a healthcare assistant.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyecho.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Echo<\/a>, Tracey said: \u201cI\u2019ve seen first hand the incredible work that goes on at Mountbatten Hospice.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cLike any charity, it relies a lot on <a href=\"https:\/\/mountbattenhampshire.enthuse.com\/pf\/tracey-gould?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwL9rldleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHu63pEIY8LhTA4n_Rw_N52c10i10WfhXlWDFmaHTLTzFmjardvJzGEcrovm5_aem_nfAaNRRGG-tkdv2cbYGhIA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">donations<\/a>, and I thought I would do something to try and <a href=\"https:\/\/mountbattenhampshire.enthuse.com\/pf\/tracey-gould?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwL9rldleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHu63pEIY8LhTA4n_Rw_N52c10i10WfhXlWDFmaHTLTzFmjardvJzGEcrovm5_aem_nfAaNRRGG-tkdv2cbYGhIA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">raise some money<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI hate flying, I\u2019m on holiday in Tenerife at the moment and I cried when we were taking off because I\u2019m that scared of flying, but wing walking was an amazing experience and something totally different, I would do it again.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   alt=\"Tracey Gould moments away from taking to the sky\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>Tracey Gould moments away from taking to the sky (Image: Supplied) READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyecho.co.uk\/news\/25399388.ornamental-lake-southampton-dries-due-lack-rain\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ornamental Lake in Southampton dries out due to lack of rain<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Tracey is a three-time cancer survivor, having overcome colon cancer after being diagnosed in 2011, and two breast cancer diagnoses in 2021 and 2023.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI think I\u2019m really lucky,\u201d said Tracey.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWhat I\u2019ve been through is no comparison to what some people have experienced in the hospice, yet it\u2019s a really happy place.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThere\u2019s no doom and gloom and everyone is so friendly.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI\u2019m really proud with what I\u2019ve managed to raise but I\u2019d be delighted if there\u2019s anyone else that would like to donate, as it goes to an amazing cause.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Though she\u2019s not quite conquered her fear of flying, Tracey said she would be open to wing walking again in the future.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She added: \u201cIt was an unbelievable experience;
