Martin Garrix<\/a> has thanked Metallica<\/a> for supplying parts for Tomorrowland\u2019s new main stage after the original was destroyed during a blaze on Wednesday (July 16).<\/p>\n

A fire broke out<\/a> less than 48 hours before the dance festival in Boom, Belgium was set to kick off, with more than 70,000 attendees due to attend<\/a>, leaving it uncertain if the festival would go ahead as scheduled.<\/p>\n

Yesterday (July 18), the festival said teams were \u201cworking day and night, with heart and soul, to turn the impossible into reality\u201d and open its doors after an urgent overnight effort<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, it\u2019s emerged that parts from Metallica\u2019s \u2018WorldWired<\/a>\u2019 tour stage and touring rig were used to help build the alternative setup. According to reports from Belgian news outlet HLN (via DJ Mag<\/a>), the parts were being stored in Austria following the European leg of the metal band\u2019s tour<\/a>, and were air-lifted to the festival site overnight.<\/p>\n

Martin Garrix, who performed at the festival last night, shared a thank you to Metallica on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of him alongside drummer Lars Ulrich. \u201cI can not believe I\u2019m actually typing this\u2026 but my set at Tomorrowland is still happening!\u201d, the Dutch DJ and producer wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cMassive love and a big shoutout to the incredible Tomorrowland team for pulling off miracles \u2014 and to Metallica for coming through with the new stage parts\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

He later shared a post from his set last night (July 18), captioned: \u201cTomorrowland we won\u2019t burn out.. \u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0fWE UNITE.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other artists billed to play the 2025 event across the weekend include David Guetta<\/a>,\u00a0Lost Frequencies<\/a>, and Swedish House Mafia<\/a>, and there are 14 other stages outside of the main stage, although they are considerably smaller.<\/p>\n

When the fire broke out days ago, footage of the destruction was quickly shared across social media, with one employee saying that it felt \u201capocalyptic\u201d to see the damage it was causing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe suddenly heard bangs and saw fire near the stage, a huge amount of fire,\u201d they told\u00a0Het Nieuwsblad<\/a>. \u201cWe were just putting the finishing touches on it. One more day and it would be finished. Four weeks of work\u2026 gone in half an hour.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some residents in the area were evacuated, and firefighters worked to prevent the fire from reaching the surrounding homes or woodland.<\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t yet clear why the fire broke out, although some speculate it may be an issue with pyrotechnics, as fireworks were allegedly heard by some people in the area.<\/p>\n
