Unfortunately on stage three of the race, Fabio was involved in a crash early in the day and was immediately taken to the local race hospital. At the hospital, tests were carried out which confirmed what was suspected; Fabio fractured his collarbone in the fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Team Picnic PostNL doctor Camiel Aldershof explained: \u201cFabio\u2019s return to racing was going well and he was making the steps that we expected. However, he crashed pretty hard during yesterday\u2019s Renewi Tour stage and unfortunately broke his collarbone. He underwent surgery last night, which went well, and will now focus on his recovery in the next few days, before we then look to a plan for him to get back to full training.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Jakobsen added: \u201cI was really enjoying be back with the team on the road and doing what I enjoy the most \u2013 racing my bike.
