St Helens moved above Wigan to go top of the Women’s Super League table with a 90-0 rout of Barrow Raiders.<\/p>\n
Danielle McGifford and Vicky Whitfield both scored hat-tricks as Saints ran in 17 tries. The result was never in any doubt from the first whistle as the hosts led 42-0 at the break and added 48 second-half points.<\/p>\n
Faye Gaskin scored a try and kicked eight goals, while Chantelle Crowl got on the scoresheet in the closing stages as she became the first women’s player to make 100 appearances for the club.<\/p>\n
The resounding victory gave another big boost to Saints’ points difference after their 48-0 win over Huddersfield last week.<\/p>\n
Wigan will move back to the top of the table if they beat third-placed York Valkyrie on Sunday as the race to finish top looks set to go to the wire with three rounds remaining after this weekend’s games have been completed.<\/p>\n
