A reigning world champion has sent a call out the way of Floyd Mayweather<\/a> almost a decade after his retirement from the sport.<\/p>\n

Mayweather<\/a> has not fought as a professional since he defeated MMA legend Conor McGregor via tenth round stoppage in their monumental crossover showdown back in August of 2017, going on to announce his retirement from boxing shortly after.<\/p>\n

He captured world titles in no less than five weight classes throughout the course of his 21-year tenure<\/a>, defeating all 50 of the opponents that he crossed paths with including the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao to name just a few.<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old from Michigan has left the door open for a return to the sport since his retirement eight years ago however, and Lamont Roach Jr wants to be the man in the opposite corner.<\/p>\n

Speaking on social media, \u2018The Reaper\u2019 sent a message out to the former pound-for-pound superstar as he urges him to \u2018show what he\u2019s got left\u2019.<\/p>\n

It comes after Mayweather openly expressed an interest in making a fight between Roach and his 19-year-old protege Curmel Moton, who has won al eight of his bouts since he entered the paid ranks back in September of 2023. Though Roach would undoubtedly take the opportunity if it arose, he is much lighter than Mayweather will be currently and is not the big money option Floyd would choose should he decide to return.<\/p>\n

The WBA Super Featherweight World Champion came extremely close to dethroning WBA Lightweight World Champion Gervonta \u2018Tank\u2019 Davis when they clashed in New York City earlier this year, but a rematch between the duo failed to come to fruition after Davis opted to face Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an exhibition contest, which takes place in Atlanta this November.<\/p>\n

Roach may instead drop back down to defend his belt, however he has also been offered a fight by the WBC champ at 135lbs, Shakur Stevenson<\/p>\n
