And whilst she is far from a favourite, the form she has exhibited across 2025 should fill her with so much confidence, particularly if she is to face some of the world\u2019s best players.<\/p>\n
Her performances throughout the year have been steadily building towards a breakthrough moment, and it\u2019d be unwise to bet against it happening in New York, the site of the greatest triumph of her career.<\/p>\n

Looking back upon that moment, where she emerged from qualifying to win the title, she spoke with great honesty about the benefits and the negatives that such a stunning and unexpected win brought.<\/p>\n
She even told Sky Sports just how close she feels to recapturing that level right now.<\/p>\n

Asked to describe her feelings from 2021 heading into that event, Emma Raducanu<\/a> admitted: \u201cYeah, I think, you know, that Emma didn\u2019t really go through anything, so, in a way, I was very inexperienced, but it helped me. I didn\u2019t know any real negativity, any of what could have potentially come and did come.\u201d<\/p>\n The 22-year-old has been the subject of intense scrutiny and criticism since that title, with many expecting her to maintain that impossible level in the years following.<\/p>\n A loss of form and fitness saw her lambasted for years, with this being the first season where she has finally seemed settled and moving in the right direction.\u00a0<\/p>\n Raducanu then compared herself now to the player she was back then, continuing: \u201cSo now, I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever go back to that exact kind of state of mind, but I think I\u2019m honestly feeling pretty close in the sense of just coming into this tournament relaxed but enthusiastic and excited to get started.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, I mean, amid everything in the first round nerves, I feel as relaxed as I can be.\u201d<\/p>\n How did Emma Raducanu\u2019s form look before winning the 2021 US Open title?<\/p>\n Raducanu\u2019s 2021 season was a strange one, largely spent on the Challenger circuit.<\/p>\n After all, she was just 18 years old, with the tennis world having only heard whispers of her talent.<\/p>\n Naturally, she burst onto the scene at Wimbledon, when she showed brief signs that her subsequent US Open<\/a> title run was possible by reaching the fourth round.<\/p>\n However, retiring injured at that stage was also a damning indicator of what was to come in the following years too.<\/p>\n Raducanu went on to exit early at the Silicon Valley Classic before losing in the final of the Chicago Challenger.<\/p>\n EventRound reachedDefeated byCincinnati OpenSecond RoundAryna SabalenkaCanadian OpenRound of 32Amanda AnisimovaWashington OpenSemi-finalAnna KalinskayaWimbledonThird RoundAryna SabalenkaEmma Raducanu\u2019s US Open preparation<\/p>\n She had impressed, but by no means was she in the form necessary to win a US Open title.<\/p>\n
