The Vikings breathed new life into their late charge for a playoff place with a 30-14 victory over Featherstone at the Millennium Stadium.<\/p>\n

Allan Colemnan\u2019s side made it four wins on the bounce with a relentless performance on the road.<\/p>\n

Widnes struck first through Matt Fleming, who latched onto a smart kick in behind from Tom Gilmore to touch down.<\/p>\n

Featherstone responded through Gareth Gale as the winger strolled in at the corner from a scrum.<\/p>\n

Just before the break, the Vikings reasserted control when Jack Owens\u2019 clever kick was grounded by Mike Butt in the corner, giving Widnes an eight-point advantage at half-time.<\/p>\n

The Vikings carried that momentum straight into the second half. Ben Condon powered over from close range off a short ball from Dec Patton, before Owens sliced through the Featherstone defence minutes later to put the Vikings 20 points clear.<\/p>\n

Featherstone responded with a try under the posts from Danny Addy to cut the deficit, before Widnes were denied a chance to seal it when Jake Maizen spilled the ball over the line.<\/p>\n

The hosts then punished the error as Gale crossed out wide for his second of the evening.<\/p>\n

Featherstone threatened to set up a nervy finish, but Maizen and Nick Gregson came up with a superb cover tackle to hold up Gadwin Springer over the line.<\/p>\n

As the game looked to be coming to a close with the hooter sounding in the background, Jon Bennison slipped a tackle to race 80 metres for the game-sealing try.<\/p>\n
