Investment firm SoftBank Group<\/a> snapped its nine-day winning streak Tuesday after its shares plunged over 5% following its announcement of a $2 billion investment in Intel<\/a>. As part of the deal, SoftBank will pay $23 per share for Intel’s common stock<\/a>, which closed at $23.66 on Monday.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific markets closed lower Tuesday, tracking Wall Street declines overnight ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting later this week.<\/p>\n Investors also assessed the talks between U.S. President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/a> and European leaders at the White House, aimed at stopping the Moscow-Kyiv conflict.<\/p>\n Japan’s Nikkei 225<\/a>\u00a0benchmark ended the day 0.38% lower at 43,546.29, after closing at a record high in its previous session, while the broader Topix index fell 0.14% to close at 3,116.63.<\/p>\n In South Korea, the\u00a0Kospi<\/a>\u00a0index retreated 0.81% to close at 3,151.56, while the small-cap Kosdaq declined by 1.26% to 787.96.<\/p>\n Mainland China’s\u00a0CSI 300<\/a>\u00a0moved down 0.38% to close at 4,223.37, after closing at its highest level since October 2024 in its previous session, while Hong Kong’s\u00a0Hang Seng Index<\/a>\u00a0was flat in its final hour.<\/p>\n Australia’s\u00a0S&P\/ASX 200<\/a>\u00a0dropped 0.7% to close at 8,896.2.<\/p>\n Indian markets bucked the wider trend with the benchmark Nifty 50 trading 0.44% higher, while the BSE Sensex index was up 0.48%.<\/p>\n U.S. equity futures<\/a> ticked lower ahead of a slate of retail earnings and speeches from Fed officials.<\/p>\n Overnight stateside, all three key benchmarks ended the day near the flatline.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0dropped 34.30 points, or 0.08%, to close at 44,911.82.
