The initial investigation into Ch\u00e1vez Jr. began in 2019 and concluded in 2023, with a warrant for his arrest being issued in Mexico. Now, a few more months have been granted to Mexican authorities while Ch\u00e1vez Jr. awaits trial.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Ch\u00e1vez Jr. vehemently denies the charges against him, with his lawyer, Rub\u00e9n Fernando Ben\u00edtez Alvarez, describing the claims as &#8220;speculation&#8221; and &#8220;urban legends.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The former champion boxer has accused Mexico of violating his fundamental rights while he was in custody after they allegedly denied access to his legal team and family to visit him in prison.
