Newcastle United have less than a week to sign a new striker, as they suffered another attacking setback on Monday night.<\/p>\n

With the Alexander Isak situation<\/a> ongoing, Anthony Gordon<\/a> has been leading the line for Newcastle United at the start of the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n

However, Gordon is now suspended<\/a> after his red card against Liverpool. The 24-year-old will miss the Magpies\u2019 next three games, at a time when Eddie Howe is scrambling to sign a new striker.<\/p>\n

That scramble continued on Monday, as Newcastle had a bid rejected for Jorgen Strand Larsen<\/a>. They proposed a deal worth \u00a350million for the Norway international, but it was turned down by Wolves.<\/p>\n

Wolves want to keep Strand Larsen<\/a>, but it remains to be seen if they will get their wish.<\/p>\n

According to former Norway international Jan Aage Fjortoft, Newcastle United<\/a> are expected to make a fresh offer for Strand Larsen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fjortoft, who was at St James\u2019 Park on Monday doing punditry for Newcastle\u2019s loss to Liverpool<\/a>, expects that next offer to be enough to bring his fellow Norwegian to Tyneside.<\/p>\n

He wrote on X: \u201cRe: J\u00f8rgen Strand Larsen. Newcastle saw a \u00a350m bid rejected yesterday by Wolves, but I still expect this deal to go through. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnother offer is imminent, and I\u2019m told it should be enough to make J\u00f8rgen a Newcastle player.\u201d<\/p>\n

Newcastle United signing Jorgen Strand Larsen will not influence Alexander Isak\u2019s future<\/p>\n

Time is running out for Newcastle United. It is essential that a striker arrives this week, ideally in time to be ready to face Leeds United on Saturday.<\/p>\n

But even if the Strand Larsen deal is completed, the door will not suddenly open for Alexander Isak to leave.<\/p>\n

Newcastle see Strand Larsen as a Callum Wilson replacement<\/a>, not an Isak replacement.<\/p>\n

Instead, Newcastle plan to keep Isak at St James\u2019 Park<\/a>. It is extremely unlikely that he will be allowed to leave, as it will be almost impossible to sufficiently replace him.<\/p>\n

That will disappoint the Sweden international, and it will disappoint Liverpool. However, Newcastle United need to put the club first.<\/p>\n

Rather than being replaced by Strand Larsen, Isak could soon be his teammate.<\/p>\n
