It would be an understatement to say that meetings between the Reds and Grimsby are rare, with the last such encounter having occurred over 75 years ago in March 1948.<\/p>\n
That was the last of just 37 games played against each other in the two clubs’ histories, stretching back to the first match between the sides in 1894, when we were still known as Newton Heath.<\/p>\n
In head-to-head terms, our record is almost equal, with 16 wins for United, 15 wins for Grimsby and six draws. Our last meeting, in 1948, ended 1-1.<\/p>\n
