{"id":94689,"date":"2025-08-26T19:53:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T19:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/94689\/"},"modified":"2025-08-26T19:53:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T19:53:07","slug":"connor-wrench-warrington-wolves-centre-retires-aged-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/94689\/","title":{"rendered":"Connor Wrench: Warrington Wolves centre retires aged 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Warrington Wolves centre Connor Wrench has announced his retirement at the age of 23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Wrench scored a try in what proved to be his final appearance as a professional in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/rugby-league\/articles\/c62n5qlm203o\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sunday&#8217;s defeat at Huddersfield Giants.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He came through the Wire&#8217;s academy and made his debut against Salford in September 2020, aged 18.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, he suffered anterior cruciate ligament injuries in both 2022 and 2024 and has quit the sport, after 19 tries in 51 appearances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;This hasn&#8217;t been an easy decision, and one I&#8217;ve been contemplating for a while, but it feels like the right step for me to make,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/warringtonwolves.com\/news\/2025\/august\/Wrench-retires-from-professional-rugby-league\/\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">he told the club website., external<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Representing my hometown club has meant a huge deal to me and I want to thank all my team-mates, coaches, the staff and of course the fans for all their support over the years. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The support I had through my injuries is something I&#8217;ll always appreciate too.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Warrington Wolves centre Connor Wrench has announced his retirement at the age of 23.
