Spending all this time in one position has a detrimental effect on our hips, leading to tightness and immobility.<\/p>\n<p>I spoke to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/elma_yoga\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/elma_yoga\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Elma Panagaki<\/a>, a yoga instructor at <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bayclubs.com\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.bayclubs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bay Club<\/a>, who shared her insights into how to test your hip mobility and how to fix that immobility if you have it.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"ca6a3a08-087a-40e1-a4c9-a8b52a69506b-2\">\u201cWhen we sit, the muscles at the front of our hips, like the hip flexors, get stuck in a shortened position, and the muscles at the back, like the glutes, pretty much shut off,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver time, this lack of movement makes our hips tight, weak, and less mobile, which is why they start to feel uncomfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, if you do have tight hips, why should you care about improving them?
