New data has identified the top 10 ‘middle-class property hotspots’ in the UK – with FOUR from Greater Manchester making the list.<\/p>\n
The figures, found by Savills Real Estate and commissioned by the Telegraph<\/a>, looked at smaller areas rather than the wide boundaries of local authorities.<\/p>\n Council boroughs, which can encompass a wide range of demographics, populations and housing types, ‘don’t account for nuances’, according to the paper.<\/p>\n Instead, their analysis<\/a> focused on the ‘built-up areas’ whose house prices had increased the most in the last decade – and where these were 50pc higher than their regional average.<\/p>\n Of the top 10, a whopping FOUR areas were found in Greater Manchester: Sale<\/a> in Trafford<\/a>, Marple<\/a> in Stockport<\/a>, Altrincham<\/a> in Trafford and Gatley in Stockport.<\/p>\n Only two other places in the north made it into the top ten: Rawdon in Leeds and Whitley Bay in Tyne and Wear.<\/p>\n Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was a Trafford borough that came highest in the region. House prices in Sale have increased by 77pc in the last decade.<\/p>\n Altrincham, with its thriving food market, independent cinema and seven grammar schools, came ninth, with an increase of 67pc.<\/p>\n Join our Manc Life WhatsApp group HERE<\/a><\/p>\n Tom Burke, of the Savills branch in Knutsford, told the Telegraph that Altrincham was ‘one of the few places in the North West’ that ‘has the vibe of a London suburb’.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_DBR_MEN_040324Greensjpeg.jpg\")
