There was great excitement surrounding Luka Vuskovic when he linked up with the Tottenham first-team squad this summer, but he is unlikely to play a role at the club this season.<\/p>\n

Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> supporters were eager to see Luka Vuskovic<\/a> in action and it is not difficult to understand why. He measures 6.3ft, scored seven goals in the Belgian Pro League last season and is only 18 years of age.<\/p>\n

Vuskovic has already shown what he is capable of for Tottenham. He came off the bench against Reading in pre-season and within 10 minutes, the Croatian already had a goal and an assist. <\/p>\n

However, Vuskovic has not yet made a competitive appearance for Spurs. He has been named in the Tottenham first-team squad<\/a> on all three matchdays so far, but Cristian Romero<\/a>, Micky van de Ven<\/a> and Kevin Danso<\/a> have all been preferred to him.<\/p>\n

Tottenham were said to be close to agreeing to allow Vuskovic to join Hamburg on loan<\/a>. This came after Hamburg already agreed personal terms with Vuskovic<\/a>. However, a more recent report claimed Spurs were still negotiating with the Bundesliga side<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, Fabrizio Romano<\/a> has confirmed Vuskovic will join Hamburg, the team his brother and fellow centre-back Mario plays for. However, the loan move will not allow Hamburg the chance to sign Vuskovic permanently at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The move will see the defender reunited with his brother, Mario Vuskovic, who is already on the books at Hamburg but is serving a doping ban until November 2026.<\/p>\n

Luka Vuskovic could make his Tottenham breakthrough next season<\/p>\n

A season in the Bundesliga will do Vuskovic a world of good and he should return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium<\/a> as an improved player. It could be that an opportunity opens up for him at the club. Ben Davies<\/a> is likely to be out of a contract by then, while Radu Dragusin<\/a> would have to work very hard to change his fortunes at the club. <\/p>\n

Rather than signing another new centre-back next summer, Tottenham could put their trust in Vuskovic and use him and Danso as their second choice central defenders. <\/p>\n
