F1 legend Michael Schumacher’s old race suits and helmets are going under the hammer.

The seven-times world champion has 14 items up for sale – with a Benetton, Mercedes Benz and Ferrari suit all up for auction. Three helmets, five signed prints, two commemorative coins and a Formula One car suspension cover are the other lots.

Estimates haven’t been revealed yet, as reported by What’s The Jam. The Schumacher Lounge Online Auction online is being hosted by Bonhams from Friday, (29 Aug) to Friday, (19 Sept).

The highlight of the auction is undoubtably Schumacher’s Scuderia Ferrari race suit he wore during the 2000 Hungarian Grand Prix – however it will set bidders back a pretty penny with prices starting from €30,000 (£25, 850).

Schumacher qualified on pole position for the Grand Prix and finished in second behind Mika Hakkinen. “It was good to take the pole for this race, where it so difficult to overtake,” said Schumacher at the time.

However, Schumacher’s Benetton-Renault 1995 Pacific Grand Prix overalls have a higher starting price.

The overalls are eye-catching with a blue, yellow and green colour scheme and sponsors logos, belt with driver name and flag, photo matched to the event.

Schumacher qualified in 3rd place behind Damon Hill and David Coulthard, but after two quick pit-stops he would take the chequered flag en rout to overall victory during the 1995 season.

The German competed in Formula One from 1991 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2012. He won a joint record seven Formula One World Drivers’ Championship titles.

He drove for Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes and still holds the record for the most fastest laps at 77.
