We thank her for her dedicated service to the American people,\u201d the US Department of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/health\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Health<\/a> and Human Services wrote in a statement posted on social media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">HHS officials did not explain why Monarez is no longer with the agency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Before the announcement was made, Monarez told the Associated Press: \u201cI can\u2019t comment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Washington Post first reported she was ousted, citing unnamed sources within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/trump-administration\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trump administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Monarez, 50, was the agency\u2019s 21st director and the first to pass through Senate confirmation following a 2023 law.
