Michigan State and Oakland will play their annual rivalry basketball game on Saturday in Detroit. The Spartans enter the game ranked in the top 10 nationally with a 10-1 record.Oakland has won five of its last six games, bringing its overall record to 6-6.The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network with tip-off scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.
Michigan State basketball will continue its annual in-state rivalry game with Oakland on Saturday afternoon from the Motor City.
The Spartans and Golden Grizzlies will line up for yet another in-state, non-conference battle on Saturday from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Annually, these two teams play each other, with the game recently being played at the home of the Detroit Pistons.
Michigan State comes into this game ranked in the top 10 nationally and looking to remain hot right before the holiday break. The Spartans made easy work of Toledo earlier this week, and now sit at 10-1 overall and 2-0 in Big Ten play this year.
Oakland is also looking to keep its recent winning ways going in this non-conference matchup. The Golden Grizzlies are 6-6 overall on the year, but have won five of their last six games — including a conference win over Northern Kentucky earlier this week.
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo and Oakland head coach Greg Kampe are considered good friends, which makes this matchup always a fun atmosphere and eventful game. Additionally, the two recently have wore fun Christmas-themed ugly sweaters for this game so be sure to keep an eye out for what Izzo and Kampe will be sporting in this year’s battle.

Game Prediction
Prediction: Michigan State 85, Oakland 68
Oakland historically plays Michigan State tough and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see that again on Saturday afternoon in the Motor City. But, I also think the Spartans are going to be able to overwhelm the Grizzlies offensively and swarm them enough defensively to win this game with relative ease. I anticipate Michigan State to have another impressive offensive showing in their final game before the holiday break and win this one going away.
