SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI)— An atmospheric river will bring rain to San Diego County as early as Tuesday.

The National Weather Service reports that roadways may flood during the heaviest rainfall on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

As of Saturday night, models show that parts of San Diego County could see over an inch of rain by Thursday morning.

Gusty winds will accompany the rain with gusts expected to exceed 35 mph along the coast Tuesday and Wednesday, according to NWS.

The chance of showers lingers through Saturday.

Ahead of the rain making its way into San Diego, NWS reports daily highs will remain above average for this time of year.

Patchy fog is also possible along the coast overnight, according to NWS.
