San Diego firefighters responded to a fire at an empty commercial building Downtown early Monday.
The fire started at the building on A Street and 6th Avenue around 4 a.m. and additional crews were called out about a half-hour later. The fire was on the second floor of the three-story building, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue.
The deputy fire chief at the scene told NBC 7 this wasn’t the first time there was a fire inside the empty building. Crews did see people exiting the building when they arrived, but no one else was inside.
One firefighter is being evaluated for exhaustion symptoms, but no one else was injured.
The cause is under investigation.
