I am angry with the mayor and City Council’s decision to charge for parking in and around Balboa Park. Yes, budget needs are great and tax revenues are limited. I believe San Diegans would choose to have some reduction in services to ensure Balboa Park would remain accessible to all. Now only those who are rich enough to pay can enjoy the park. With the high cost of housing, many families cannot afford the parking fees.

I am very upset that I did not speak up earlier, but I had greater faith in the mayor and the City Council. I trusted them to do what’s best for everyone because Balboa Park with all its gifts was created for all. They did not. This decision will not be forgotten.
