Organizers say that the president is overstepping his power. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press office called for demonstrators on Saturday to remain peaceful, saying: “If you are protesting this weekend. Do so peacefully. Do so thoughtfully. Trump is hoping you don’t. He is seeking a reason to crack down harder. Do not give him one. Continue to speak out.
