BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Christmas for a local family is looking a little brighter this year.
A tree, garlands, and presents! A fully decked out Christmas setup was given to a family who just recently transitioned out of homelessness.
“This family has been a part of the open door network for a few months. We’ve been able to serve them through some of our programs, and we’re really grateful for the partnership with KGET and Alta One Credit Union to be able to bless them with a Christmas experience,” said Lauren Skidmore, CEO of The Open Door Network.
Alta One Federal Credit Union is the Sponsor of the Christmas Tree Giveaway, and teamed up with KGET and Open Door to make the Christmas magic happen.
“I’m happy, and I’m very grateful, and I’m thankful. we really appreciate you guys, you know, having a hardship right now, and just for you guys coming to help us, it’s just so sorry. I’m sorry, it’s just, I really appreciate it. Thank you,” said Tiffany Morgan, a mother and homeowner.
For Tiffany and her two young girls — Angel and Tiffanae — it feels extra special to celebrate Christmas in a home of their own.
“It’s a blessing to be here, considering where we we’ve been in the past, you know, so being here today in the place, it’s a blessing. We’re happy we have heat at night, you know, we can cook when we want, and that wasn’t always available to us, you know, at all times,” said Morgan. “So to be able to wake up every day in our place, thanks to the open door network and everybody that helped us, it’s just a blessing.”
Alta One provided the gifts…dozens, in fact.
“I was here last year with one of, you know, another family being a little elf. And it’s very, you know, cheerful to see the the hope and the tears of seeing that they still have a nice Christmas to to, you know, come to every year,” said Annabel Vargas, with Alta One Credit Union.
Looks like it will be a merry Christmas in the Morgan household
