(KRON) — Two more people have been arrested in a brazen smash-and-grab robbery that took place at a San Jose jewelry store earlier this year. The violent armed robbery occurred at Kim Hung Jewelry in the 1900 block of Aborn Road at around 2:05 p.m. on Sept. 5.

According to the San Jose Police Department, more than 10 suspects forced their way into the business by ramming a vehicle through the front door. Inside the store, suspects brandished a firearm at a man and violently assaulted another elderly man.

Police said the suspects stole thousands of dollars worth of items from the store before fleeing the scene in multiple vehicles. The elderly man who was assaulted was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The SJPD Robbery Unit launched an investigation into the robbery. Prior to Monday, SJPD detectives had already arrested 13 suspects:

On Monday, police said they had identified and arrested two additional suspects. Jamieon Miller, a 19-year-old Tracy resident, is believed to be responsible for assaulting an 88-year-old business owner during the robbery. He was arrested in Redwood City on Dec. 2.

Wesley Miller, a 19-year-old Oakland resident, was identified as an additional suspect and arrested in South San Francisco on Nov. 18.

While police were serving search warrants, they found two unregistered firearms, an unregistered assault rifle, ammunition, loaded magazines, high-capacity drum magazines, and evidence of the crime.

“Suspect Jamieon Miller attacked a hardworking family, not just by damaging their small business, but also by violently harming the elderly business owner,” stated SJPD Chief Paul Joseph. “Rest assured, our Detectives are dedicated to arresting all individuals involved in this heinous crime so that we can help give peace of mind to our small businesses. Know that we do not tolerate these violent crimes against our community.”

“For those crooks thinking you can drive a stolen car through a jewelry store and violently manhandle the elderly owner and get away with it…..you don’t know the SJPD,” stated Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen. “Now, my office will work just as hard to make sure this greedy gang of dangerous criminals spends a long time behind bars for attacking our community.”

“There is no crime more disturbing than one committed against an elder or a child,” said San José Mayor Matt Mahan. “I know our entire city was shocked to see an 88-year-old attacked in broad daylight at his own shop – but they won’t be shocked to learn the suspect is now behind bars. I want to thank Chief Joseph and our entire department for working doggedly to find those responsible and hold them accountable.”

“Thank you to the San José Police Department for their focused efforts that led to these additional arrests,” said San José City Manager Jennifer Maguire. “Their continued commitment to public safety helps safeguard our community and gives our residents and businesses the sense of security they depend on.”

Both suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for robbery.
