A La Jolla woman, who gained notoriety for trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband, was identified as the person who fatally shot herself last week in front of a Little Italy bar.

Tatyana Natasha Remley, 45, killed herself Thursday night in front of witnesses on the sidewalk on Date and India streets outside Princess Pub & Grille, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.

Remley and her husband made a name for themselves in 2012 with their multimillion-dollar horse and acrobats show, Valitar, which was staged at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and featured Remley in a large advertising campaign.

However, the show closed after four performances due to slow ticket sales. Tents, chariots and other production gear were auctioned off so the couple could pay their creditors.

In 2023, following several divorce filings, some of which alleged domestic violence and intimidation, a fire destroyed the couple’s home in an unincorporated area east of Del Mar. The next day, sheriff’s deputies got a tip that Remley was trying to hire someone to kill her husband.

About a month later, Remley met with a potential hitman, bringing money, guns and a plan, sheriff’s officials said. Except the hitman was actually an undercover detective. Remley was arrested the next day.

She pleaded guilty later that year to solicitation to commit murder and a weapons charge. She was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison.

In September, she was charged with arson. She pleaded not guilty in Vista Superior Court. Her next court date was set for March, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Details in the arson case were not immediately available, but the complaint includes the date of the couple’s 2023 house fire.
