FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — A 19-year-old has died after side-swiping a semi-truck Monday evening in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol says they were called just after 6:30 p.m. to a crash on Manning Avenue east of Riverside Avenue.

An initial investigation found that the semi-truck driver, identified as Marlon Tavarez of San Joaquin, was driving east on Manning Ave when he veered into the westbound lane.

The 19-year-old driver was traveling west in a Chevrolet Silverado when he was sideswiped by a semi, causing his vehicle to go off the roadway and flip over multiple times, landing on its roof.

The victim died from his injuries at the scene and has not been identified.

Tavarez was uninjured and remained on the scene, cooperating with the investigation.

Officials say drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
