Police sought the public’s assistance Tuesday in locating a hit-and-run suspect who struck and severely injured a pedestrian over the weekend, leaving the man lying in a Fullerton roadway.
The collision occurred shortly after 10:20 p.m. Saturday near South Gilbert Street and Carol Drive, according to the Fullerton Police Department.
Officers responded to the location, where they discovered the victim lying in the roadway with traumatic head injuries. Fullerton Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, where they took the man to a hospital in critical condition.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a male and female pedestrian were crossing South Gilbert Street heading eastbound in a marked crosswalk moments before a white four-door sedan traveling northbound on Gilbert struck the male victim and kept going.
“The suspect vehicle is believed to have front-end damage,” the police department said in a statement.
