FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The mother of a parolee shot and killed last December during a home check has filed a lawsuit against the state of California and the parole officer who fired the fatal shot.
Jeremy Raul Sanchez was 26 years old when he was killed while visiting family at a central Fresno home on Christmas Eve.

Investigators say a confrontation between Sanchez and the parole officer turned physical, leading to the deadly shooting.
The family claims Sanchez was unarmed and shot in the back.
They’ve shared Ring surveillance video from a nearby home showing the moments after the shooting.
The parole officer suffered minor injuries.
Neither the state nor the officer has commented on the lawsuit.
