LONG BEACH – Long Beach Police Department is investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a driver in Long Beach.

The man was hit about 10:35 p.m. Tuesday in the area of West Willow Street and Maine Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

He was crossing Willow northbound at Maine when he was struck by a westbound 2023 Toyota RAV4, police said.

The gravely injured pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to the LBPD.

The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication, police said.

” It is not yet determined if the pedestrian was crossing within the unmarked crosswalk of the intersection,” police said, adding that speed and distracted driving were ruled out as possible factors.
