FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — An international celebration will bring tens of thousands of people to the Fresno Fairgrounds.
Friday marks the beginning of the Hmong New Year festival, which signifies the end of the harvest and the start of a new year.
The cultural event is open to everyone, featuring traditional Hmong food, clothing, ceremonies and “courtship games,” including the iconic ball toss.
People from across the country and around the world are expected to attend for community bonding and connecting with family roots.
The four-day event starts at 8 am Friday and runs through Monday.
