BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a driver who died after a crash on Highway 58 near Mojave as 50-year-old George Donald Fintikakis of Ridgecrest.

The CHP’s website said on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at around 8 p.m., there was a report of a vehicle driving the wrong way on Highway 58 near Exit 172 in Mojave.
According to the CHP’s website, the vehicle was then driving in the correct direction and swearing in the roadway.
A crash then occurred. The website said a semi-truck jackknifed, and 170 diesel was about to go into the waterway.
The coroner’s report said Fintikakis was a driver of a vehicle who collided with a semi-truck. He died at the scene.
