A man accused of murdering his pregnant partner in Oakland Park was heard on video shouting that the Illuminati made him kill his wife.
Mario Alejandro Ramirez, 37, was seen in a video recorded by a neighbor on a cellphone, in which he is heard shouting that they wanted to kill him and that his three children had been taken away.
“They made me kill my wife because they cornered me. The Illuminati,” he is heard saying. In another moment, he denies committing the crime.
In the early hours of Tuesday, when deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office and paramedics arrived at an apartment, they found a woman stabbed and lifeless, while Ramirez had a self-inflicted wound.
Neighbors identified the victim as Fayanni Andreina Ramirez. The couple had three children together.
“Very strong, very strong,” said Katherina Abril, a neighbor. “She was a very exemplary mother, always attentive to her three children, a very good neighbor and a very good friend.”
The couple’s children were also in the apartment.
“They are aware of what happened that day because they were there,” the neighbor said.
Another resident, Paola Alvarez, recounted that the children ran out covered in blood.
“That’s something they’ll never be able to erase from their minds, never,” she expressed.
Ramirez was taken to a hospital, while the children, according to neighbors, remain in the temporary care of their paternal grandfather. The victim’s family is in Venezuela.
“Horrible, this has been horrible, and look at the date,” Alvarez said. “For them, life will never be the same. Our fear is that they will be separated, as we don’t know if the grandfather can take care of these three children.”
Court records show that the victim had previously requested a restraining order against her partner. The case was closed in January 2024.
A judge on Friday ordered that Ramirez be held without bail.
