The San Francisco 49ers took down the Chicago Bears 42-38 on Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium, moving them to 12-4 on the season and making it five straight wins for Kyle Shanahan’s team.
This victory sets the 49ers up for a pivotal Week 18 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks that will not only crown the winner of the NFC West but will also decide the top seed in the conference.
The first matchup between these two division rivals happened all the way back in Week 1, with the 49ers squeaking out a 17-13 victory. Brock Purdy threw two touchdowns and two interceptions and suffered a toe injury that cost him eight weeks. George Kittle also left the game early with a hamstring injury that landed him on injured reserve.
For this Week 18 matchup at Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers are currently 1.5-point favorites, according to BetMGM. They’re also -115 ($115 bet wins $100) on the money line while the over/under is 49.5 points.
San Francisco’s offense may be humming right now, but Seattle feels like the much more complete team at this point in the season. However, if the 49ers can pull out this victory, they’ll secure themselves a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, including the Super Bowl if they make it there.
