Christmas tree recycling season is here.
The city of Los Angeles provides a few options for your tree after the holidays. Whether you’re leaving the tree curbside for pick-up or dropping it off at a recycling/mulching location, remember to remove all decorations, including ornaments, tinsel, lights and stands. And, artificial trees can’t be recycled. They go in the black bin.
Here are three options for your tree.
Curbside Christmas tree collection
Place your tree out for collection on regular trash days before Jan. 31. The tree should be cut into sections and placed in your green bin. If it’s too big, place the entire tree out next to the green bin.
After Jan. 31, schedule a bulky item pickup by calling 1-800-773-2489 or visit MyLA311 and select “item pickups.”
Residents in apartment and condos can place trees curbside on the scheduled collection day.
