SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — With the year 2026 less than 48 hours away, San Diegans are preparing for the New Year’s holiday throughout the county.

Most City of San Diego administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, and some facilities will also be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s Eve. However, amid the closures, several regional and national parks will remain open during the holiday.

Here is a complete list of what’s open and closed throughout San Diego:

Closed on New Year’s Day (Thursday):

Balboa Park’s public buildings, including the Municipal Gym, Morley Field, Botanical Building and Balboa Park Activity Center, will also be closed on New Year’s Eve.

Additionally, parking meters, street parking time restrictions, yellow zones and posted street sweeping routes within the city will not be enforced on New Year’s Day. All other parking violations will be enforced. It is encouraged to view the posted signage for clarification.
