Re “On climate change, both great news and bad news” (Oct. 16): The good news is the growth in renewables. The bad news is President Trump’s continued assault on climate change actions. His attitude is displayed in his recent ignorant rant at the U.N. that climate change is the “greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.”
Trump now has the support of both Congress and the Supreme Court. It is essential for Democrats to gain control in Congress in the midterms to provide pushback to his further dismantling of climate change actions. The U.S. cannot solve the climate change problem by itself but is absolutely needed.
Climate change is currently not a high priority voter issue. The indifference this administration is showing to dire consequences for our children and grandchildren from uncontrolled climate change, predicted by overwhelming scientific evidence, should make it a higher priority.
