The San Jose Sharks will be scratching top prospect Michael Misa on Friday against the Utah Mammoth.

Misa, who took regular line rushes in practice on Wednesday, will be held out of Friday’s lineup.

“The schedule dictates a little bit. The match-ups,” Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky told SJHN Friday morning. “Gonna be high-pace game today. I would say more so matchup-oriented, more than anything.”

Misa could be on a similar plan to one that Will Smith had to start the 2024-25 season. The Sharks are playing their first of 16 back-to-back scenarios this season. The team will travel back to SAP Center for Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Warsofsky has told reporters in the past that both Sam Dickinson and Misa are on their own development plans. He did not say if either plan was similar to Smith’s.

Iorio to make Sharks debut with Mukhamadullin injured

Defenseman Vincent Iorio, who was claimed off waivers from the Washington Capitals on Thursday, is in Utah and will play.

Shakir Mukhamadullin, who appeared to be on track to return to the Sharks’ lineup after being scratched for two games, was injured during practice, according to SJHN.

“We don’t think it’s too serious,” Warsofsky told SJHN. “But I would say he’s probably out through the weekend.”

Timothy Liljegren is now on injured reserve with an upper-body injury as a corresponding move for the Sharks, claiming Iorio.

Veteran John Klingberg will also miss Friday’s game due to a lower-body injury. Warsofsky told reporters that Klingberg is traveling with the team, but is doubtful to play.

Warsofsky said Klingberg tried to skate today and it didn’t go well. So he’s doubtful for tomorrow. Liljegren out though the weekend then will reassess on Sunday to get a better timeline. #SJSharks https://t.co/Zz7xYjn4j6— Max Miller (@Real_Max_Miller) October 16, 2025

Vincent Desharnais will make his season debut and partner with Dickinson. Dickinson and Desharnais were a common pairing for most of San Jose Sharks training camp.

Puck drop against the Mammoth will be at 6 p.m. and is an exclusive game for ESPN+ and Hulu.
