BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — In 2025, cameras played a crucial role in capturing dramatic incidents across Bakersfield.

Among the incidents caught on camera was an officer-involved shooting at a southwest Walmart. Police body cameras recorded the moment when Deashanay Holmes, after being confronted by officers, pulled a knife from her purse and charged at them. Holmes was treated at a hospital and subsequently arrested.

Surveillance footage also aided detectives in tracking down suspects involved in a series of burglaries. A Jeep was seen ramming into a store, leading to the arrest of three individuals connected to nine separate burglaries.

In another incident, a drive-thru altercation at a McDonald’s on F Street turned violent when a man threw rocks at a driver, shattering the glass and resulting in the driver’s hospitalization. 19-year-old Quintin Flight was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and parole violation. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

High-speed chases were also captured on camera. In one case, a stolen truck was spotted on the Westside Parkway, leading to a pursuit that ended near Castaic after a spike strip was deployed. In another, a suspect wanted for robbery and carjacking was tracked using traffic cameras and eventually surrendered in West Los Angeles after a tire blowout.

Hart Park became the center of attention when 24-year-old Crystal Aguilar was accused of replacing an American flag with a Mexican one. Video footage recorded her making threats to officers. Aguilar was charged with multiple offenses, including threatening a peace officer and vandalism.
