The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Saturday for the 10th time in 11 days, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.683.
The average price has dropped 4.6 cents over the past 11 days, including six-tenths of a cent Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The run began with five consecutive decreases, then was interrupted by an increase of one-tenth of a cent Monday. The run resumed on Tuesday.
The average price is 3.3 cents less than one week ago and 4.7 cents lower than one month ago but 9.4 cents more than one year ago. It has decreased $1.81 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the fifth consecutive day, decreasing 1.4 cents to $4.648. It has dropped 3.8 cents over the past five days, including a half-cent Friday.
The Orange County average price is 3.5 cents less than one week ago and 6.3 cents lower than one month ago but 13.2 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.81 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped for the 16th time in 17 days, decreasing 1.1 cents to $3.04. It has dropped 12 cents over the past 17 days, including six-tenths of a cent Friday.
The run began with four consecutive decreases. The national average price was unchanged Oct. 6, then resumed dropping the next day.
The national average price is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, 16.3 cents lower than one month ago and 15 cents below what it was one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.976 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
There are several reasons falling prices since last week including falling crude oil prices, lower gasoline demand and the availability of winter-blend gasoline, which is cheaper to produce, in some states.
