Thousands of Southern Californians are expected to rally on Saturday in participation of “No Kings” demonstrations that have been organized across the country in opposition to the Trump administration.
A follow-up to the same-named protest that was held over the summer, the “No Kings” rallies serve as demonstrations to show discontent with President Donald Trump’s policies. Organizers are encouraging participants to voice their opinions on “the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration.”
According to organizers, 5 million people participated in the protest that was held on June 14. Saturday’s mobilization will include more than 200 rallies in California.
In a social media post on Thursday, Gov. Gavin Newsom urged participants to exercise their right to protest non-violently.
“Use your voice. ACT PEACEFULLY,” Newsom said in a post on X. “Protect yourself and your community. THERE ARE NO KINGS IN THE UNITED STATES.”
