Rain on this parade isn’t deterring its most dedicated fans.
Even with inclement conditions in the forecast, spectators for the 2026 Rose Parade flocked to Pasadena to secure a spot on Colorado Boulevard to view the floats. Another winter storm delivered showers to Southern California, making for a soggy start to the New Year.
Thursday’s parade is slated to be the 11th time it rains in the event’s history. According to organizers, the 2026 event will be the first time in 20 years that it’s rained during the Rose Parade.

Survivors of the Eaton and Palisades fires and volunteers worked on the float, which features a phoenix rising along with 31 sunflowers, which honor those who lost their lives. On New Year’s Day, eight fire survivors will ride in the Rose Parade on the float, which is co-sponsored by the California Community Foundation and the Black Freedom Fund.
