Gang detectives from the Santa Ana Police Department were involved in a shooting Thursday that ended with the arrest of a suspect, authorities said.
The shooting took place around 5:35 p.m. Thursday near 1700 S. Evergreen St., just south of Edinger Avenue, and was followed by a “subsequent use of force,” according to police.
No officers were injured, and the suspect was not struck, but he was taken to a hospital for “medical clearance,” police added.
The department also said a firearm was recovered at the scene.
The public was advised to avoid the area Thursday evening as the investigation continued.
