According to the Fresno Police Department, officers were dispatched around 8:10 p.m. on October 16 to a residence near North Barton Avenue and East Quincy Avenue after receiving a 911 call about a disturbance. The caller, identified as Perry Michael Huffman, told dispatchers he had been involved in a physical altercation with another man inside the home.
When officers arrived, police said Huffman peacefully exited the residence and was detained without incident. Inside, officers found 90-year-old Perry Leon Huffman unresponsive on the ground. Authorities said the elder Huffman had suffered severe trauma to his body. Despite emergency responders’ life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives later determined that the victim was the suspect’s father and that Perry M. Huffman had been visiting Fresno from out of state. The motive behind the fight remains under investigation.
“Although an arrest has been made, Detectives are asking that anyone with information about this case contact the Fresno Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867),” the department said in a statement.
Police emphasized that callers can remain anonymous when providing tips through Crime Stoppers. The Fresno Police Department’s homicide unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly altercation in the quiet northeast Fresno neighborhood.
