Caltrans closes Interstate 5 Tejon Pass rest areas, expected to reopen following storm

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Caltrans announced the Interstate 5 Tejon Pass rest areas in Kern County are closed.

“Following the most recent rainfall, flows to the unaffected overflow ponds exceeded earlier projections and as a result, reached capacity quicker than anticipated,” said in a release.

Crews will continue to monitor wastewater flows and continue sediment removal from the impacted ponds.

The rest areas are currently anticipated to reopen following the upcoming storm system.
